WHAT IS A PROTECH & HOW DO YOU BECOME ONE?
Any student involved with Lyman Theatre are invited to become trained as a ProTech.
· ProTechs are students who are trained to work the lighting, sound, and projection systems in our auditorium. ProTechs are the only students who are able to work on the Electrics crew for our productions, serve as booth techs for our Festivals, perform Stage Manager Duties, and set up for various auditorium events.
· Additionally, ProTechs serve as the house crew for all rentals that use our facility. The rental gigs are paid, and at $20/hour they can make pretty good money, which can be used to pay for any and all school related fees! After you go through your initial training, you have to log 40 apprentice hours: 20 on any unpaid event, and 20 apprenticing a rental gig with a trainer.
· ProTechs must attend regular monthly meetings (when called)/maintenance calls, and will be scheduled to work by the Lead ProTech and Company Stage Managers.
· Trainings are held at various times of the year. Keep alert to information calling for trainees. Veteran techs are required to attend all trainings to continue employment, and to brush up their basic skills.
